We recently received a very touching letter from Donna Pitchers, UK. She is the mother of a 7-year-old son. Donna describes how the boy together with his friend collected money to send it to Ukraine.
“My 7-year-old son raised £215 by selling goods to his friends and would now like to donate the money,” writes Donna. We asked her to send some photos of her son and tell us a little more about how they raised the money and why they decided to do it.
Here’s what Donna wrote:
“I am attaching some photos of my son Elliot and his best friend, Levi. They are such nice boys who have been friends since they were 3 years old. The teachers at the school talked to the children and explained what was happening in Ukraine. The guys were deeply touched.
In a few hours, they designed a poster. The idea of selling things to their friends came to life this way. Elliot spent nights worrying that no one would come to the sale, but the whole school showed up. There was no end of the line in sight! The boys sold pens, pencils, books, sweets and lighting items. Elliot and Levi were great sellers and quickly sold most of the items we had on the table. I hope that the boys will continue to be so compassionate.”
And we hope that the world will have even more warm-hearted and caring young people like these boys and their teachers.
